Daisy Wheel, knitting doll and homegrowness

I git the greatest surprise package in the mail from Grandma before christmas. A gorgeous old daisy wheel

'Closed':

'Open':

And a beautiful handpainted knitting doll ('French Knitting'), in the original packaging, untouched and never used before!

you can see I tested it out with some pink wool. Thanks Grandma I love them!

And the beginning of what I hope to be a bumper crop of tomatoes this year.

I have already pulled a few off, but this is my first proper handful. These are sweet bites and they are SO sweet and delicious and full of flavour - better than any supermarket tomato. I also have mini romas, yellow cherries, some bigger mini romas (can't quite remember exactly) as well as some black russians and a couple of others that I can't remember the type. YUM!

What on Earth do you do with a daisy wheel?

You use it to make a daisy out of yarn! Then you can use the daisy to decorate your knitted garments! Or just make an endless supply of daisies cause it's fun!

Hey thanks Jackie and it is so true to the old way of making things - it's so sturdy and feels like it will last forever!

Glad to hear your cat came home safely Sandrine!

Hi there - I'm mystified by a daisy wheel as well! I couldn't see an email address for you for some reason, and wanted to get back to you about the comment you left for me - drop me a line and I'll email you back (about winding).

I love knitting Nancies - it's been forever since I thought about them. My gran used to thrust one at us when we were getting under her feet, and you've sent me off down memory lane... Thanks!
