Christmas Thinkings

I'm making Christmas plans in my head and getting a little excited about things. This year will be the first year the Smurf really gets Christmas. Plus, last year we were in transit and didn't have our stuff, so it feels nice to be thinking about where to hang our christmas decorations.

I'm ahead of myself a little as usually I don't start thinking and doing until the week or two before Christmas Day.

Our supply of homemade decorations has been building over the years, but this year I have plans to boost the supply somewhat. As you can see above, we're well sorted for stockings, so this year homemade plans include:
  • Advent calendar, and lots of fun things to put in for daily discoveries. Do you have any things you put in your calendar that are popular at your place?
  • Soft toy Christmas trees to go on the "mantle"
  • Christmas Cards - a different design this year though, what do you think of a "bauble" sewn on to the card with a big cross through it?
  • An assortment of baked goodness Pudding, cake, biscuits (see gingerbread men below), sweets, neenish tarts, maybe some jam and infused oils
  • Some new red work decorations for the tree - although maybe I'll use green this year? Green work. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it
  • A wreath for the front door
  • A handmade christmas present for the Smurf
  • Oh and a bunch of toys for The Toy Society's World Wide Christmas Drop! I've got some special plans for that one. Have you signed up yet?
OK, now let's see if that keeps me accountable. Oh and did I tell you I'm a sucker for over-filling my to do lists?

We interrupt this transmission

to advise that the Sadieandlance household is in heaven tonight and heaven is a rockumentary; Strummer: The Future is Unwritten.

RIP Joe. You rocked (and punked and rockabillied and got a little crazy and died too young).

Le Sigh

The Good Sighs:

- Chocolate Slice love! Wow, you internets kids sure do love you some choccie slice! The comments and the cross posting and the people making slice. Makes me weep sugar tears.

- Finding my camera cable. The reason I hadn't blogged for so long.

- Making softies for my Smurf

- Making myself a Mothers Day present

- Making progress

- Making presents for a blog meet up.

- Listening to Le Tigre. You know when you haven't listened to a band you love for ages - even though you've loved them for almost a decade and they are on your all time high rotation list? And then your ipod kindly reaquaints you with them and oh the joy. Kathleen I never stopped lovin ya baby!

- Fabric selling Nuns! This bag x2 for 25 bucks.

No joking. Vintage florals, jersey, canvas, cord, cottons, ginghams, stripes, spots you name it I got it. 50 cents a scrap (largest scraps ever), 1 buck a metre. Thankyerverymuch. More about it over here. A small selection of my favs here:

- Beautiful, inspiring women. xoxo

Bad sighs
- Gastro
- Missing blog meet ups due to gastro
- People who cross my pram path at the shopping centre and make no effort to get out of the way.
- Crafty friends not getting paid when they should. Boo.
- Evidence of pests in the weatherboards of perfectly bloody good gorgeous "with potential" house fit for the Sadieandlance family. Double Boo.
- Golden Girls on the telly in the background.
- Blogger farking with my template settings and stuff.

The Mojo

Thanks for the mojo vibes, it worked a treat along with a Friday morning outing to meet with some Sydney crafty bloggers . We chatted craft, Japan (extensively!), fabric, knitting, and serious craft world current affairs. it was so great to put a face to a blog and also great to be included in the Sydney blog scene so quickly. You gals are alright! We all brought a little gift to swap and I scored a gorgeous gift from Belinda

I left with a massive smile on my face and my mojo in my sights. I capitalised on my newfound energies and suggested a little gathering of others on Sunday. Lo and behold I managed to knit 10 rows and that was even with the Smurf as my date! Only when I picked up my knitting later last night I realised I stuffed up on the new section. Usually under these circumstances I would quietly put the project away and pretend it's not there till I next see the knitting gurus. But no not this time, not me! I taught myself how to pick up stitches and frogged back to the bit I made the mistake and away I went again. I surprise even myself!

There was also a small matter of a gift voucher bday present that may also have contributed to the return of my mojo!

I should be able to implement most of your suggestions for my mojo returning with this baby.

Jenny George

Edited to add: whoops somehow the photos disappeared so I added them back in

Meet Jenny

This week she joined the Monkey Union. And then climbed a lime tree.

Mr Sadieandlance named her Jenny cause she's the first woman to join the Monkey Union, just like Jenny George was the first woman to lead the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
