Garden craft in spring time - or stories of my pale green thumb.

How does my garden grow? Quite nicely thanks,

Until it gets really, really, really windy here in Melbourne and then it starts to look like this

The wind was so bad one night last week that we thought our bedroom window was going to join us in our bed. Mr SadieandLance even pulled the covers over himself (he's not one for feeling the cold) as extra insurance from any stray smashed glass. The windows survived, but that chilli seedling above only barely survived and look at this poor tomato seedling...

Ah, the wind. Commisserations on your plants. Don't feel bad - nothing short of a cyclone-proof shelter would have saved them. Such a wind has had us marooned in Nowra today... it blew down trees and fanned fires, preventing our egress. Now we face a 5.30 dash back to Canberra so I can go to a work planning day. Complete with tomtom drums. And a 'motivational speaker'. Oh dear.

We're doing the wind thing up here in Sydney too - your poor little seedlings.
